“I don’t know who invented burritos, but God bless them.
My name is Greg Gutierrez, and the business is called Tijuana Mexican Grill. My family baked and cooked all their lives, so I learned how to cook with my grandma back in Mexico. I left Mexico when I was 24 years old, and then I came over. It was a dream that if I made it to this country, I wanted to open my restaurant.
This business has been standing for 24 years. We have people where they brought their kids, and now those kids are coming out with their kids.
I really didn't have any problems since I started. We got busy and busier. The biggest challenge, where it came to my mind to close at one point, was COVID-19. Most people don't come to the restaurants to eat anymore, so we don't have as many seats and most people want just to-go or delivery. We just hung on and everything is going just little by little better.
I like the Sopitas. It's like a homemade tortilla and it’s stuffed with cheese and maybe meat and Pico de Gallo. I like everything on my menu; it's just fun. We always have a lot of fun; we enjoy working together and making special food.
This is my first home; it has been the first home because when I came from Mexico, and I worked for other places, even though I was making good money, I just wanted to quit. I wasn't happy, and I wasn't happy until I got my business.
I come every day even though I don't have to come. I feel like I’m happy – we're going to be here forever. Every time you get up in the morning you just say thank you God, we're all happy. There's no stress everything is good.
Please come try out our food thank you!”
