Meet Kevin, Owner of Scoopzilla!

Updated: Sep 21, 2022

“It takes a lot of time and effort, and we put our heart and soul into this. So that's what I think a lot of business owners including myself wish that people know.

My name is Kevin and this is Scoopzilla! As a young kid, I grew up in LA with my grandparents and my cousins and aunts and uncles while my parents were trying to raise my brother and a whole bunch of financial situations. During my time in LA, my grandma taught me how to cook because after school I was always with her in the kitchen. She taught me how to cook and I fell in love with cooking! The reason why I love cooking was basically because that was the only time I actually saw my whole family together when we talked and created memories. During high school, me and my friends would host huge dinner parties and we'd cook for like hundreds or 150 people at a time. Then one friend complained that the other people never make dessert or anything like that. So for my birthday, they bought me an ice cream book. Then I just bought a little small ice cream freezing bowl machine and I made ice cream out of it. Then my grandma was like, ‘Oh this is good! You should sell it!’.

Then when I went to college, me and my friends were just trying to make some money to pay for college so we started making ice cream. We made ice cream out of my garage for like three years and then I went to Santa Clara University and then my two friends went to culinary school. I figured I would go to culinary school later. I was making ice cream out of my dorm room for a while.

I guess that the most adventure crazy ice cream we made is the mango sticky rice with mango sticky rice coconut drizzle and mango bits. It's our most popular ice cream. It's only in the summer though because mango is not in season anymore.

I’m just proud of the fact that I was able to do this. I am proud that I was able to follow my dreams of what I always wanted to do. My name is Kevin. This is Scoopzilla and we are taking over one teaspoon at a time with our ice cream!”
